BANDON, Oregon—The Ohio State Buckeyes hold a three-stroke lead over the field after one round of play at the Bandon Dunes Invitational due most in part to the three-under 69 that has Daniel Wetterich in sole first place by one stroke. The senior was as low as five-under, thanks to a birdie and eagle on his first two holes, for the round before settling at three-under after his fourth birdie of the day on his final hole. Wetterich is one of four Buckeyes to finish the day in the top-14 as Jack Mancinotti (T3), Caleb Ramirez (T9), and Laken Hinton (T14) all joined him, shooting at most two-over. Ramirez carded a 73 after trading birdies and bogeys to slot into a tie for ninth-place going into day two. The newest addition to the Scarlet and Gray, Hinton, finished with a two-over, 74, that included an eagle and earned him a share of 14th place. Will Grimmer completed the day in a tie for 22nd place, shooting a three-over, 75. Will Voetsch rounded out the starting five, shooting a six-over, 78, and a tie for 61st place.
Mancinotti, competing as an individual, had an up and down day, turning in six birdies and one eagle before running into some trouble in his final holes to finish even par and take a share of third-place. Kevin Stone and Grant Engle were the other two individuals competing and carded a four-over, 76, and a nine-over, 81.
