COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s tennis team will participate in a four-team tournament this weekend as part of the nation-wide ITA Kickoff weekend.

Coming of back-to-back victories over Cleveland State last weekend, the Buckeyes will look to improve to 4-0. Ohio State will take on VCU at 10:00 am on January 26, while Arkansas and Cornell will compete at 1:00 pm.

The winners of the two match ups will play at noon on January 27 for the Kickoff weekend title. The consolation match will be held prior to the final, at 9:00 am on Sunday.

Cornell will be making their 2019 season debut when they take on Arkansas, who have started the season 4-1 with wins over Mercer, St. Louis and UCF. Cornell is led by David Volfson who is currently ranked No. 12 in the nation in singles.

Facing the Buckeyes first will be VCU, who finished 2018 with a record of 16-10 and were Atlantic-10 Tournament Champions last season.

Following the ITA Kickoff weekend, the Buckeyes will also take on the Toledo Rockets at 5:00 pm on January 27. The match with Toledo is not part of the ITA event, but rather a regular season match.
