COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State hosts Bowling Green Wednesday at Bill Davis Stadium in a 6:35 p.m. game and then travels to State College, Pa., for three games against Penn State this weekend.

The Wednesday game will be streamed live at while ESPN 1460 AM will carry all three games at Penn State.

Fans 8th grade and below come out early for an Easter egg hunt on the concourse before the Bowling Green game. The hunt will begin 45 minutes before the start to the game and kids can win candy as well as different game experiences and prizes.

Ohio State is now 15-15 overall but more importantly, 5-4 in the Big Ten Conference and just a game behind co-leaders Michigan State and Indiana, each at 6-3.

The Buckeyes have won four of their last five games and have played extremely well during that span. Some five-game stats:

  • The team has 19 extra base hits (3.8 per game) after averaging just 2.1 extra base hits the first 25 games of the season.
  • The team has had four games with double-digit hits after having just nine in the first 25 games.
  • Team batting average is .388.
  • Eight of nine starters in the field are hitting above .330, led by Josh Dezse (.625; 10-16), Brian DeLucia (.556; 10-18 with 10 runs scored), Tim Wetzel (.450; 9-20) and David Corna (.444; 8-18).

Ohio State has received fine pitching the last eight games, especially from the bullpen. The Buckeyes are 5-3 in that time with the three losses by a total of four runs (5-4 in G1 vs. MSU in 10 inn.; 10-9 to Indiana in G3 as IU scores four in B9; and 5-3 in G2 vs. Indiana). Pitching staff highlights during the last eight games:

  • Team ERA of 3.21.
  • Bullpen ERA of 1.99 (five earned runs in 22.2 innings pitched with 21 Ks and just 8 BB).
  • David Fathalikhani, Dean Wolosiansky and Josh Dezse have 0.00 ERAs out of the pen during that time while Theron Minium’s is 2.08, Andrew Armstrong’s is 2.84 and Jared Strayer’s is 3.60.

Under the direction of longtime head coach Danny Schmitz, Bowling Green is 13-19 on the season, 7-5 in the Mid-American Conference. The Falcons are coming off a series win against MAC West-leading Toledo. Junior Jon Berti leads the Falcons offensively with a .413 batting average to go along with four doubles, four triples, two home runs and 21 runs scored. Cody Apthorpe is 4-3 with a 4.14 ERA in 45.2 innings pitched on the mound.

The Buckeyes hold a 29-18-4 lead in the all-time series with Bowling Green, including wins in each of the last eight meetings. The teams last met April 28, 2004, an 8-1 Ohio State victory at Bill Davis Stadium.
