Lindsey Vagedes (So., Warrenville, Ill.) has advanced to the final round of the NCAA womens gymnastics Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah. After placing among the top eight on the vault with a score of 9.850, she will compete in the championship round on Sat. Apr. 24, at 9 p.m. EST. Vagedes will attempt to become the first individual national champion in Ohio State history. The final round will consist of 13 gymnasts vaulting for top honors. Each gymnast will perform two vaults and the score will be averaged to determine the winner. “I think she has an excellent chance because she has two strong vaults,” said head coach Larry Cox. “I think she has as good a chance to win a national championship as three or four other people do.” Vagedes was a first team All-American on vault and a second team All-American in the all-around with a score of 39.1. She is the fourth gymnast in Ohio State history to receive this honor.
