STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Ohio State women’s soccer team spent about 45 minutes Friday on a field adjacent to Jeffrey Field practicing set pieces and focusing in on the task at hand: capturing a win over a solid 17-3 Hofstra team in tonight’s NCAA Tournament first-round game.
The Condition of the Conditions
Jeffrey Field took some rain yesterday before grounds crews were able to get the areas in front of each goal completely covered with tarps. Tarps were still down today and so the Buckeyes were moved to the adjacent field for their set pieces. The tents that each team will use for pregame and halftime preparation are small, but heated. Jeffrey Field, with similar sized stands on both sides, looks like a cozy soccer venue, but tonight nothing will be cozy because…
It’s Cold Here!
The temperature was 36 degrees with wind gusts up to 31 mph during the Buckeyes’ brief session outdoors. By game time – 7:30 p.m. – tonight, the temperature is expected to be in the low 30s with winds gusting between 10 and 20 mph. It’s going to feel like 20 degrees during the game. Snow flurries are possible but no accumulation is expected. It will be cold…for all the teams and their fans.
