Attention Buckeye Nation! Looking for more ways to stay up-to-date with the latest Ohio State happenings? Check this out! Every Friday, features one of the many Ohio State athletic Twitter accounts to follow. The Ohio State women’s hockey team opens the 2011-12 season this weekend and for in-game updates follow this week’s #FF: OhioState_WHKY

Under the direction of first-year head coach Nate Handrahan, the 2011-12 Buckeyes return 17 letterwinners from last season, including the top three scorers who combined for more than half of the team’s goals – senior Natalie Spooner (26g), senior Laura McIntosh (14g) and junior Hokey Langan (13g). McIntosh and Spooner are already members of the Century Club, while Langan is just 16 points away from the 100-point mark. Heading the blueliner pack are seniors Kelly Wild and Brittany Carlson and looking to be competitors in the net are goalies Chelsea Knapp and Lisa Steffes as both bring a wealth of experience in their young careers.

The Ohio State women’s hockey team kicks off its 13th season with a WCHA series against Bemidji State, Oct. 7-8. Games begin at 7 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday at the OSU Ice Rink and admission is free.
