COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State rifle team fired a team score at Akron (4690) on Sunday.
In smallbore the team fired a score of 2319 and were led by Derek Keiser who fired a team-high 584. He was followed by Viktor Kiss (581), Ariel Hall (578), Nathan Wehrlen (576), and Philip Becker (569) who rounded out team scoring. Annie Tomb led the way for the individuals with a score of 569. She was followed closely by Freshman Eva Horgan who fired a career-best score of 568. Natalie Katsuyama (562), Joel Potts (561), Annabelle Stanec (550), Frank Steyn (549), and Chandler Deaton (549) rounded out individual scoring.
In air rifle the Buckeyes fired a team score of 2370 which was the second-highest score posted this season by the team. They were led by a season-best score of 595 from Viktor Kiss. Ariel Hall (593), Derek Keiser (592) and Nathan Wehrlen (590) all posted scores over 590 while Philip Becker (581) rounded out team scoring. Annie Tomb again led the way for the individuals with a season best equaling score of 590. She was followed by Frank Steyn (583), Annabelle Stanec (579), Chandler Deaton (578), Eva Horgan (576), and Joel Potts (566).
Ohio State will travel to Colorado Springs, Colorado and the US Air Force Academy for the Patriot Rifle Conference Championship Match this coming weekend (February 5/6). Alaska Fairbanks, TCU, Air Force, Nebraska, UTEP, and the Buckeyes will compete for the PRC championship in smallbore, air rifle, and aggregate as well as individual titles in both events.
