COLUMBUS, Ohio – In the first team competition of the 2014-15 campaign, the Ohio State pistol team hosted the University of Akron, Virginia Military Institute, Cedarville University and Purdue University last weekend in Columbus, Ohio for the Fall Classic. The Buckeyes finished atop the team leaderboard, scoring 5,409 points in the Open Division, while the women also won their division with 2,709 overall.

In Open competition, sophomore Quentin Cauffman had a solid shooting weekend, winning the free pistol tiebreaker with 266 points. He also took home the open air tiebreaker with 552 points. Ohio State freshman Glenn Zimmerman was victorious in the standard pistol competition with 558 points.

On the women’s side, freshman Irina Andrianova won the sport pistol event with 560 points, while sophomore Elizabeth Buerling placed first in the air match by shooting a 365.

The Buckeyes will travel to West Point next weekend (Oct. 18). Both the Black Knights (USMA) and the Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) will provide a challenging test for the young Buckeye unit.
