DUBLIN, Ohio-The Ohio State men’s golf team finished 14th in the 2006 Robert Kepler Intercollegiate Sunday. The event, hosted by the Buckeyes, was contested at the Muirfield Village Golf Club (par 72, 7,159 yards), site of Jack Nicklaus’ annual Memorial Tournament.
Northwestern (298-284-296=878) was the team champion, overtaking Indiana (286-292-304=882) to win the title. Xavier, Marshall and Purdue rounded out the Top 5. Northwestern’s second round 284 was the best of the tournament.
Kyle Moore of Northwestern and Seth Brandon of Indiana decided medalist honors with a playoff. Each shot 215 for the 54-hole tournament. Moore was declared the winner with a par on No. 2 to win the event.
Ohio State’s Colin Biles finished 16th to led Ohio State individually.
The tournament, which is normally held on The OSU Scarlet Course, is in its 36th year. The tournament was moved this year while renovations are completed to the Scarlet Course.
Ohio State heads to the Fossum Invitational in East Lansing, Mich., April 22-23.
