COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State field hockey team (5-8, 1-3 Big Ten) fell to the No.6-ranked Nittany Lions of Penn State, 3-1 Saturday at the North Turf Field in Columbus.

Penn State’s Heather Conroy scored 4:55 into the game off a penalty corner from teammates Jill Martz and Michelle Rigby. The Nittany Lions followed with another goal four minutes later (8:36) when Rigby put the ball in the back of the net, assisted by Martz and Conroy.

The Buckeyes displayed a more aggressive attack on both sides on the field in the second half. The Ohio State defense limited the Nittany Lions to just one goal. Penn State recorded its third score of the game at 46:42 on another score from Rigby. Ohio State junior Vanessa Immordino (Roseland, N.J./West Essex) tallied the lone Buckeye goal at 58:55 from teammates Mariana Solorzano (Jr., Caracas, Venezuela/Humboldt School) and Leticia Fragapane (So., Medoza, Argentina/Universidad Nacional De Cuyo).

Buckeye goalkeeper Lara Koole (Fr., Breukelen, Netherlands/RSG Broklede) tallied four saves while Penn State goalkeeper Annie Zinkavich recorded two saves.

The Nittany Lions outshot Ohio State, 18-9 and also had an 8-4 advantage on penalty corners.

The Buckeyes will close out a three-game homestand Tuesday when Ohio State plays host to Ball State at 3 p.m.
