Ohio State Falls to No. 17 Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback (25-17, 25-22, 25-13) at No. 17 Purdue Sunday afternoon inside Holloway Gymnasium. With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 12-10 overall and 3-7 in the Big Ten while the Boilermakers improve to 17-4 overall and 6-4 in league action.

Lauren Witte and Bia Franklin paced the offense with eight kills apiece, followed by Vanja Bukilić with six kills. Franklin also had seven digs, two service aces and one assist. Hannah Gruensfelder tallied 10 digs and Becca Mauer handed out 24 helpers. Bukilić and Jordan Fry earned two blocks each.

SET 1: The Buckeyes burned the first timeout of the match when the Boilermakers took a 15-11 lead. Purdue kept rolling for a 25-17 winner.

SET 2: A Mauer-Witte block put Ohio State ahead 15-12. Purdue tied things up but the Buckeyes scored three straight points for a 20-18 advantage. Unfortunately, the Boilermakers went on a 7-2 run to wrap up the set, 25-22.

SET 3: It was all Purdue in the final frame as it claimed a 25-13 decision.
