MADISON, Wis. – The Ohio State men’s soccer team fell short in double overtime 1-0 to Wisconsin on Sunday at the McClimon Soccer Complex in Madison.
The Buckeyes started the match well and came close to scoring when Brady Blackwell’s free kick from midfield was cleared by a Badger backwards and off the crossbar. Ohio State finished the first half leading in shots 5-4, and would end the match outshooting Wisconsin 14-12. Unfortunately the offensive pressure of the Buckeyes was not enough to break the deadlock and with 1:13 remaining in the second period of overtime, Wisconsin’s Andrew Akindele scored the game-winner on an unassisted goal.
Ohio State finishes the regular season 1-14-2 and 0-7-1 in Big Ten play and will take on No. 8 seed Northwestern in the Big Ten Tournament play-in game on Saturday, November 3.
