COLUMBUS, Ohio/> – The Ohio State women’s ice hockey team fell, 11-1, at No. 7 North Dakota Friday night in Grand Forks, N.D. The Buckeyes (3-1-1) and Fighting Sioux (4-3-0) close out the two-game WCHA series at 8:07 ET Saturday at the Ralph Engelstad Arena.
Senior forward Laura McIntosh scored for the Buckeyes in the second period and now has 138 career points since joining the squad in 2008. Freshman forward Kayla Sullivan posted her first assist of the season on the McIntosh score.
McIntosh now has 138 career points, which is third on the OSU career points list. The native of Waterloo, Ontario, McIntosh is now eight points shy from tying former Buckeye Jeni Creary (2002-05) for second in the program record books with 146 career points.
North Dakota scored both times on its power play opportunities in the first period to help claim a 5-0 lead after 20 minutes against the Buckeyes. Monique Lamoureux-Kolls and Andrea Dalen tallied power plays goals at 7:14 and 12:07 respectively. Michelle Karvinen led the squad with three goals in the game.
In the second period, North Dakota extended its lead with two goals early in the second after scores by Karvinen and Alyssa Wiebe.
The Buckeyes got on the board after McIntosh posted her third goal of the season at 2:49. She is currently second on the team with seven points through five games.
The Fighting Sioux continued to put pressure on the offensive end against the Scarlet and Gray, posting four goals following the OSU score en route to the victory.
