COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University Rifle team equaled their highest score of the season, posting a 4691 against Murray State (4714) and NC State (4664). The team also increased their three score NCAA Qualification Average to 4685. In smallbore, the team fired a 2329 which equaled their season best. The team was led by a personal best performance by Derek Keiser who fired a score of 586. He was followed closely by Viktor Kiss (584), Nathan Wehrlen (580), Ariel Hall (579), and Tyler Hanson (577). Annabelle Stanec led the way in individual scoring with a score of 570. She was followed by Natalie Katsuyama (567), Joel Potts (565), Philip Becker (565), Annie Tomb (561), Chandler Deaton (553), Eva Horgan (549), and Frank Steyn (549).
In air rifle, the team posted a score of 2362 led by a season best score of 594 from Viktor Kiss. He was followed by Derek Keiser (592), Ariel Hall (591), Philip Becker (585), and Nathan Wehrlen (580) to round out team scoring. Freshman Chandler Deaton fired a season best 585 to lead the way for the individuals. She was followed by Frank Steyn (582), Annabelle Stanec (581), Annie Tomb (580), Joel Potts (580), Eva Horgan (577), Natalie Katsuyama (576), and Tyler Hanson (575).
Coach Tanoue: “We had a really solid performance all around from the team on Sunday and the personal and season best scores we saw from several team members was also fantastic to see as we head into the home stretch of the fall portion of our season. Score wise we were able on improve our last home performance and will have another two opportunities over the next two weeks to continue to improve and gain experience.”
Ohio State will return to action on Sunday, November 14 at West Virginia in a four-team match with Army, Air Force, and WVU.
