COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Buckeyes closed out the 2019 campaign at No. 24 in the Penn Moto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll. Ohio State was the seventh seed in the Big Ten Tournament before falling to No. 2 Iowa. The Buckeyes peaked this season at No. 12 and stayed for two weeks. The preseason ranking had Ohio State at No. 14.
Freshman Mackenzie Allessie, who was just named to the Big Ten All-Tournament team, ended the season at No. 8 nationally in goals per game. Her goal in the tournament game versus Iowa put the Buckeyes on the board and was the single goal of the contest. Allessie finishes the season with 16 goals. She also appears at No. 10 nationally in points per game.
As a team, the Buckeyes finished sixth nationally in goals per game with 55 total this season. This puts Ohio State first in the Big Ten in this statistical category. Maryland follows at No. 7. Ohio State also finishes No. 10 in points per game. The Ohio State field hockey squad ends with 145 points.
