COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 15 Oho State women’s gymnastics team closed the 2023 regular season with its best road score of the year, earning a 196.900 Friday night at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley, Calif. The Buckeyes (16-5) finished third at the quad meet behind first-place California (198.100) and second-place Stanford (197.400) and ahead of Utah State (195.000).
MEET NOTES
- Ohio State had its best showing on vault Friday night, recording a season-best 49.425 in the final rotation of the meet. The Buckeyes tallied three scores of 9.900 or higher as Sydney Jennings led the way with a career-high tying 9.925 to win the event title and Nicole Riccardi and Tory Vetter each earned 9.900 scores. Lexi Edwards and Payton Harris added 9.850 towards the team score. Freshman Kaylyn Mintz improved on her season-best with a 9.775.
- Ohio State opened the quad meet on uneven bars. Edwards led the team with a 9.850. The Buckeyes also counted scores from Alexis Hankins (9.825), Harris (9.800), Emma Pritchard (9.725) and Colby Miller (9.725). Overall, the team scored a 48.925 in the rotation.
- On beam, the Buckeyes earned a rotation score of 49.250. Jennings led the team on the apparatus, scoring a 9.900 to tie for fifth overall. Pritchard, Harris and Jojo Warga tied with 9.950s. The Buckeyes also counted Vetter’s 9.825. Pritchard and Warga’s scores were season bests.
- Ella Hodges picked up the team’s best floor score, earning a 9.900 to finish tied for third in the meet. Edwards finished second on the team with a 9.875 and Vetter was third with a 9.850. Riccardi, Claire Gagliardi and Harris each recorded scores of 9.825.
- Harris finished the all-around with a score of 39.250.
