COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball program received AVCA Team Academic Award honors as one of a record 1,125 teams to earn the national recognition for the 2018-19 season. Illinois, Nebraska, Northwestern, Purdue and Rutgers joined the Buckeyes in representing the Big Ten.
To be eligible, a program displays excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. There were 189 Division I women’s programs honored for the previous academic year.
The Buckeyes thrived in the classroom during the 2018-19 campaign. Seven student-athletes picked up Academic All-Big Ten laurels back in December before the entire active roster (13) was named OSU Scholar-Athletes at the annual OSU Scholar-Athlete Banquet. Rising junior Lauren Witte capped off the year as a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar by virtue of her 3.7 or better GPA.
