Ohio State Earns 4-0 Win At Northwestern

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 7 Ohio State women’s tennis team earned its fifth Big Ten Conference win on Sunday, defeating Northwestern, 4-0, in Evanston, Ill.

The Buckeyes (12-5, 5-0 B1G) took the doubles point with wins from Kolie Allen and Danielle Willson (6-3) and Shelly Bereznyak and Isabelle Boulais (6-3). Lucia Marzal, Allen and Bereznyak earned the singles win to secure the 4-0 sweep of Northwestern (5-10, 1-2 B1G).

In Doubles

• Kolie Allen and Danielle Willson won the first doubles match, 6-3, over Northwestern’s Aino Alkio and Briana Crowley.
• The Buckeyes swept the doubles point with a win on court two from Shelly Bereznyak and Isabelle Boulais. The pair defeated the Wildcats’ Maria Shsharina and Sydney Pratt, 6-3, to secure the doubles point for Ohio State

In Singles

• Lucia Marzal defeated Kiley Rabjohns 6-2, 6-3 to win the first singles match of the day.
• Kolie Allen added the Buckeyes’ second singles victory of the day, defeating Aino Alkio 6-3, 6-4.
• Shelly Bereznyak clinched Ohio State’s win with 6-3, 6-3 win over Christina Hand.
• Sydni Ratliff, Irina Cantos Siemers and Isabelle Boulais were all in the process of playing when the team win was clinched. Cantos and Ratliff were both leading by one set when the match was finished.
