OSU vs. Army Results

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State pistol team dropped a close match to the U.S. Military Academy, Saturday, falling to the Black Knights by a final score of 6,386-6,328 at the Tronsrue Marksmanship Center in West Point, N.Y. The loss ended the Buckeyes’ two-year win streak over the Academy.

The Black Knights narrowly won all three open events, outshooting the Buckeyes in free pistol (2,031-2,019), standard pistol (2,142-2,129) and air pistol (2,213-2,180).

Ohio State junior Joe Totts earned an individual first place finish in standard pistol, tallying a score of 557 to win the event over Army’s Heather Deppe and Jacob Hayes, who shot 546 and 535, respectively, for second and third place. Ohio State junior Kim Hullings also shot a 535 to tie for third place in the event.

The Black Knights also captured both events in the women’s competition, defeating the Buckeyes in women’s air pistol (1,092-1,041) and sport pistol (1,627-1,588).

Hullings finished third individually in air pistol with a score of 357, and second individually in sport pistol with a score of 548.

Ohio State junior Mariah Skiles placed third in sport pistol, shooting a 541.

The Buckeyes return to action Oct. 28 at the Sixth Annual Purdue Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. Competition is set to start at 8 a.m.
