COLUMBUS, Ohio Just one day after knocking off the top-seeded doubles team in the tournament, Angela DiPastina and Christina Keesey were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the ITA National Indoor Championships at the Racquet Club of Columbus.
Facing Romy Farah and Caren Seenuth of Miami (Fla.), DiPastina and Keesey fell behind early and were not able to rally. Down 6-1, the Buckeye pair rallied to make the score 7-3. The gap, however, was too much to overcome. Ohio State dropped the last game to lose 8-3. Farah and Seenuth, although unranked together, are ranked nationally with other members of the Miami team.
The loss came just one day after the marquee upset of the tournament, a win over the top-seeded and No. 1-ranked duo from William & Mary, 9-7, in the opening round. The Tribe’s Megan Moulton-Levy and Katarina Zoricic were the tournament’s defending champion and finalists at the 2007 NCAA Tournament.
DiPastina continued action in consolation singles after falling Thursday in the opening round of the main draw. Facing Tatsiana Uvarova of VCU, DiPastina lost in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
The loss ended competition at the ITA Indoors and the fall for the Buckeyes.
