WEST POINT, N.Y.– For its final regular match of the season, the Ohio State University pistol team traveled to West Point, N.Y., for a match against Army West Point and Coast Guard. The Buckeyes defeated both teams with an Open score of 6,711 while defending national champion Coast Guard came in at 6,614 and the Black Knights finished at 6,361. With this win, the team improves its Open season record to 15-0.

The Buckeyes shattered several school records en route to the team victory. These include the team Open air pistol record with a shot of 2,269 (Katelyn Abeln, Samuel Gens, Shrenik Jain and Bernard Melus) as well as the 3-Gun Aggregate record with a score of 6,711 (Abeln, Robert Delagrange, Gens, Cade Haiby Jain and Melus). Samuel Gens broke his previous record in air pistol by shooting a 574. Not only did the team break records, but they set a new season high in standard pistol (2,176).
With his new record, Gens took first in air pistol as well as third in sport pistol and tied for second in standard pistol. Shrenik Jain also tied for second in standard pistol, first in sport pistol and second in air pistol. Cade Haiby, with a new personal best, and Robert Delagrange tied for fourth in standard pistol and Haiby also earned fifth in sport pistol. Finally, Katelyn Abeln placed third in air pistol.
The Buckeyes are back at it March 14-17 for the Intercollegiate Pistol Championship which will take place in Fort Benning, Ga.
