COLUMBUS, Ohio – Distance runners from the Ohio State men’s and women’s track and field teams competed this weekend in the Hillsdale Distance Carnival at the Gina Relays in Hillsdale, Mich. Melanie Price bested her own school record in a runner-up performance in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 10:46.55. Brian Olinger, who is redshirting the outdoor season, set the meet record in the men’s steeple in a personal-best time of 8:47.29.

Dan Glaz, a junior, set a season-best to take third in the men’s 5,000-meter, crossing the finish line in 14:09.10. His time in the 5K served as a qualifier to the 2005 NCAA Mideast Regional Championships May 28-29 in Bloomington, Ind. His teammate Braden Martinez, a freshman, also finished the 5K in a regional-qualifying time of 14:14.50 to take seventh place.

Junior Kevin Bruffy ran alongside Olinger in the steeplechase and turned in a season-best 9:14.39 to earn a seventh-place finish. In the women’s steeple, Price topped her previous OSU record of 10:54.36 with her regional-qualifying time of 10:46.55.

Both the men’s and women’s track and field teams rejoin for the final regular-season meet of the year Friday and Saturday at the Jesse Owens Track Classic in Ohio State’s Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
