COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State pistol team scored 6,409 points to defeat the Naval Academy (6,375) and VMI (5,580) Sunday afternoon at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

Navy won the free and air pistol team events, scoring 2,082 and 2,221 points, respectively, to claim first place in both contests and outpoint the Buckeyes. Ohio State won the standard pistol team event, however, scoring 2,159 points to pull out the overall team victory.

The Buckeyes swept the top three individual finishes in standard pistol, as senior Joe Totts claimed first place with a 554, freshman Quentin Cauffman claimed second place with a 542 and senior Kim Hullings earned third place with a 538.

Ohio State also earned second and third place finishes in air pistol, as senior A.J. Tourigny took second place (561) and Totts tied for third place (556).

The Buckeyes outpointed Navy in women’s competition as well, defeating the Midshipmen by a score of 2,669-2,658.

Navy won the women’s air pistol team event, scoring a 1,067 to claim first place while Ohio State won the women’s sport pistol event, tallying a score of 1,608 to earn the overall team victory.

Individually, Hullings won women’s sport pistol with a 563 and took second place in women’s air pistol with a 358 while senior Mariah Skiles finished third in women’s sport pistol with a 533.

The Buckeyes return to action Jan. 24-25 at the Winter Open at the Lt. Hugh W. Wylie Range.
