Ohio State Concludes Regular Season against Texas, Indiana

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State rowing team finished the regular season on the Scioto River Friday afternoon against Texas and Indiana. The First Novice Eight earned the Buckeyes a win, crossing the finish line over two seconds ahead of Indiana and with open water ahead of the Buckeyes’ Second Novice Eight. 

Originally scheduled for Saturday morning, the regatta was held Friday afternoon due to anticipated inclement weather conditions on Saturday.

In the first race of the day, the First Varsity Eight of Anjali Fernandes, Lexie Nothdurft, Ida Kruse, Leonie Heuer, Ida Petersen, Jessy Vermeer, Sierra Cydrus, Sierra Tiede and Grace Libben finished with a time of 5:59.78.

Next up was the Second Varsity Eight, crossing the finish with a time of 6:08.21. The boat was comprised of Sophie Blair, Mane Bravo Alvez, Rachel DeWitte, Meg Cymanski, Claire Cannon, Michaela Nordhaus, Ally Hatton, Michayla Binkley and Maddie Perrett.

The First Varsity Four of Samantha Morrison, Kailey Boomer, Maddie Frendberg, Kendell Massier and Julia Miklasevich raced a time of 6:46.67, just 1.77 seconds behind the Longhorns.

The Second and Third Varsity Four raced each other, with the 2V4 finishing with a time of 6:53.31 and the 3V4 following with a 7:04.06. The 2V4 was comprised of Divya Batchu, Kayla Kuntzman, Olivia Kwiecinski, Lena Harper and Lilli Flinders, while Kelly Stainbrook, Madison Sheahan, Mo Robinson, Savannah Sellers and Willow Wahlers manned the 3V4.

In the final race of the day, the Ohio State First and Second Novice Eights raced Indiana. The 1N8 of Emma Beltz, Grace Pabst, Jenna Draycott, Allie Strzelecki, Megan McNutt, Tess Mitchell, Aryn Robinson, Adele Pohl and Kaitlyn Clouse raced a 6:12.70 to beat the Hoosiers. The 2N8 of Emma Walker, Jennie Hallsworth, Joan Moore, Josephine Robison, Simone Fishel, Katherine Reymann, Claire, Olechiew, Lena Bercz and Kaila Oberhaus raced a time of 6:39.89.

 

NEXT UP

The Buckeyes head to Baraboo, Wisc. to race in the Big Ten Championships on Devil’s Lake on May 19.
