Ohio State Announces 2018-19 Slate


COLUMBUS, Ohio – In 2018-19, the Ohio State men’s hockey team will play host to 17 games in Columbus and travel for another 17 contests. The Big Ten Conference slate includes 24 games for the second year in a row, with teams facing off twice at home and twice on the road.

The Buckeyes open the year with two games at Arizona State Oct. 12 before beginning the home schedule with a series vs. UMass Oct. 19-20. The Sun Devils traveled to Columbus in January 2017 and Ohio State played two games vs. the Minutemen in Amherst last season. A home-and-home series vs. Bowling Green follows. The teams will meet in Columbus Oct. 26 and on the Falcons’ home ice Oct. 27.

Ohio State and Notre Dame, which met in the 2018 Big Ten Tournament championship game, open the B1G schedule Nov. 2-3 on Irish home ice. Both teams advanced to the 2018 Frozen Four.

After a nonconference series at Colgate Nov. 9-10, the Buckeyes will close the first half of the season with three consecutive Big Ten series. Wisconsin and Penn State come to Columbus for back-to-back series Nov. 16-17 and Nov. 23-24, respectively. A two-game set at Minnesota Nov. 30-Dec. 1 wraps up the first portion of the Buckeye schedule.

The Buckeyes will return to action with a home series against Mercyhurst Dec. 28-29 in Value City Arena. The regular season ends with eight consecutive conference series.

Ohio State and Michigan State will meet Jan. 4-5 in East Lansing and March 1-2 in Columbus. The Buckeyes will take on 2018 Frozen Four team Michigan Jan. 11-12 in Columbus and Feb. 22-23 in Ann Arbor. Jan. 18-19 is a two-game set at Penn State, before a home series against the Irish Feb. 1-2. The Buckeyes travel to Madison for a series with the Badgers Feb. 8-9 and will host the Gophers Feb. 15-16.

The Buckeyes were 26-10-5 in 2017-18, won the NCAA Midwest Regional to advance to the Frozen Four and finished second in the Big Ten with a 14-8-2-1 ledger. The squad, under 2018 B1G Coach of the Year Steve Rohlik, ranked in the Top 10 in the NCAA in scoring offense, scoring defense, power play and penalty killing.
