COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 7 Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the No. 13 Michigan State Spartans, 3-1 at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

“Any win in this conference is a great win,” head coach Anne Wilkinson said. “It was nice to see our team bounce back after Friday’s loss.”

The Buckeyes took an early 1-0 lead with 24:52 remaining in the first half. Katie Hobson (Jr., Norristown, Pa.) fired a ball pass MSU goalkeeper Mirelle Evans on a penalty shot. The Spartans tied the game with 5:43 left in the first half. Sanne van Nouhuys connected with Bridget Cooper to tie the game at one. But the MSU offense remained silent the remainder of the game.

With 22:20 remaining in the game, Jayne Landis (Sr., Telford, Pa.) scored on a perfect lob pass from Diana Kuser (So., Barto, Pa.) to give OSU its second lead of the afternoon.

Five minutes later, the Buckeyes added an insurance goal when Deanna Menichini (Sr., Newtown Square, Pa.) fired a ball from the right side of the circle to give OSU a 3-1 lead.

On Sunday, Oct. 10, OSU travels to University Park, Pa., to face Penn State at 1 p.m.
