The action came fast and furious in the first with the Badgers scoring in the opening minute, just to have Maltais tie the game at the 10:40 point. As the Buckeyes tried to kill a penalty late in the opening period, Shirley found the back of the net to put UW up 2-1 going into the second.
Wisconsin added to its lead early in the second on the Pankowski goal, but the Buckeyes showed life late in the frame when Jaques scored on a power play to make it 3-2 going into the third. The goal is the second of Jaques’ season, and career.
As the Buckeyes tried to find the equalizer early in the period the Badgers kept the pressure up, eventually cashing in on Curl’s second goal of the game to pad the lead. A few moments later Shaver found the back of the net, giving Wisconsin the insurance it needed and sealing the 5-2 loss for the Buckeyes.
