Last Time Out
The Buckeyes (11-3-2, 8-2-2 WCHA) split their non-conference series with No. 9 Robert Morris over Thanksgiving weekend. OSU came out fast and furious in the series opener, hanging seven goals on the Colonials, including a hat trick from Tatum Skaggs, to cruise to a 7-3 victory. Things slowed down for the Buckeyes in the second game, as RMU eventually pulled out the win in overtime, 3-2.
Emma Maltais leads the WCHA in points-per-game with 1.31, while her 21 points rank second in the conference. Her points and 13 assists rank first in the WCHA among freshmen. Skaggs leads the WCHA with 11 goals, and .69 goals-per-game lead the conference as well. Kassidy Sauvé leads the NCAA with 414 saves, while her four shutouts are tied for first the nation.
Thanks in part to her hat trick, Skaggs earned the WCHA Rookie of the Week award for the second time this season. Her first goal came near the end of the first period, lighting the lamp on a power play with 14 seconds left in the period. After RMU got on the board in the second, Skaggs responded with two straight goals to earn her first collegiate hat trick.
