IOWA CITY, Iowa – The No. 25 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team dropped a 196.325-195.025 decision at Iowa Saturday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The Buckeyes opened the night with a 48.825 on uneven bars. Kaitlyn Hofland tallied a career-high 9.850 to tie for second while Samantha Kent and Alexis Mattern each posted a 9.800.

Ohio State then moved to vault, earning a 48.875. Jamie Stone posted a career-best 9.850 to tie for first on the event while Mattern recorded a 9.800.

After two rotations, the Hawkeyes held a 98.175-97.700 lead over the Buckeyes.

In the third rotation, the Buckeyes posted a season-high 49.050 on floor exercise. Taylor Harrison, Erin Malone and Mattern each notched a 9.850 to tie for second on the event. The score tied for a career best for Harrison and marked a career high for Malone.

Ohio State then concluded the meet with a 48.275 on balance beam. Kent earned a career-best 9.850 to finish third on the event.

Mattern finished third in the all-around with a career-high 39.225.

The Buckeyes open their home slate with a 4 p.m. dual meet against Minnesota Jan. 30.
