%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio – Led by a spectacular pitching performance from Kevin Goodrum (Sr., Mentor, Ohio), the No. 25 Ohio State baseball team notched a 2-0 win in game one of a doubleheader at Bill Davis Stadium Saturday. Goodrum fired a five-hit shutout – the first shutout of his career – as he improved to 6-1 on the season. He walked two and struck out one in his complete-game gem.%^$
%^$The game was a pitcher’s duel for the first three and a half innings. But in the bottom of fourth the Buckeyes scored the first run of the game. Nick Swisher (So., Parkersburg, W.Va.) hit a double to center field. Doug Deeds (Fr., Bexley, Ohio) followed and lined a single to centerfield to score Swisher and give OSU a 1-0 lead.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes added some insurance in the sixth inning. Mike Harris (Sr., Hillsborough, N.C.) led off with a single. After back-to-back walks to Mike Check (Sr., Bay Village, Ohio) and Doug Dendinger (Jr., Greenwich, Ohio), Swisher hit a sacrifice fly to deep left field, scoring Harris to give OSU a 2-0 advantage.%^$
%^$Michigan’s Bobby Wood took the defeat. He fired five innings of four-hit, two-run baseball while allowing four walks and striking out four. Wood falls to 4-3 on the season.%^$
