STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The No. 24 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team notched a 196.400 for a sixth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships Saturday afternoon at Rec Hall in State College, Pa.

Ohio State took second place in the early session as No. 8 Michigan placed first with a 197.550 while Iowa notched a 195.375 and Michigan State posted a 194.500 to round out the field. Overall, the Buckeyes finished sixth at the championships behind Michigan, Nebraska, Minnesota, Illinois and Penn State.

The Buckeyes started the meet on balance beam, posting a 49.000. Sarah Miller led Ohio State and tied for second in the first session with a 9.850 while Victoria Aepli tallied a 9.825.

Ohio State moved to floor exercise in the next rotation, tallying a 49.250. Melanie Shaffer paced the Buckeyes with a 9.900 while Miller posted a 9.875.

The Buckeyes went to vault in the third rotation, notching a 49.000. Miller again posted a team-high 9.900 while Shaffer earned a 9.825.

Ohio State closed the meet on bars with a 49.150. Shaffer tied her career-best 9.900 to tie for second while Aepli tallied a 9.875.

Shaffer posted a career-high 39.425 to tie fifth in the all-around and garner all-championship honors while Aepli finished fifth with a career-best 39.250.
