COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 24th-ranked Ohio State wrestling team is in action for the first time in 2011 at the Cliff Keen/NWCA National Duals Saturday and Sunday at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Action begins at 10 a.m. ET both days with the championship match set to begin at 4 p.m. ET Sunday. The Buckeyes (1-3; 0-1 Big Ten), who have not wrestled since Dec. 19, look to bounce back from a 42-3 loss at Penn State.
New Year, New Start
The Buckeyes have had their piece of success at the National Duals. Out of 12 appearances, Ohio State has placed in the Top 6 eight times. (.667). Their best finish was second in 2002 as host after falling to Minnesota 26-8 in St. John Arena.

Many of the top Division I wrestling programs will be participating in the National Duals. In addition to the Buckeyes, fellow Big Ten teams Minnesota, Purdue and Wisconsin will wrestle. Additionally, American, Boise State, Central Michigan, Cornell, Iowa State, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, UNI and Virginia Tech will take part in the elite tournament.
Pacing the Buckeyes
With 13 wins so far, redshirt-freshman Nick Heflin leads the Buckeyes in wins. Heflin also paces the squad in win percentage (.867), while senior Colt Sponseller is second with a .846 win percentage (11-2). Redshirt-freshman Peter Capone by far has been the busiest Buckeye in competition, wrestling a total of 22 times so far this season.
The Buckeyes will host Michigan State at 2 p.m. Jan. 16 at West Holmes High School in Millersburg, Ohio.
