COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 20 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team earned a season-high team score in a 196.200-195.225 victory over Iowa Saturday afternoon at St. John Arena. The Buckeyes tallied season best scores on each event against the Hawkeyes.

Ohio State opened with a 49.100 to top the Hawkeyes’ 49.000. Tenille Funches tied for the event title with a 9.875.

The Buckeyes moved to uneven bars in the second rotation and tallied a 48.900, led by Rachel Abrams’ career-best 9.875.

After two rotations, Iowa held a narrow 98.275-98.00 lead.

Ohio State then posted a season-best 49.050 on balance beam to defeat Iowa’s 48.125. Funches and Taylor Harrison each posted a career-best 9.825 to tie for second on the event.

In the final rotation, the Buckeyes defeated the Hawkeyes, 49.150-48.825 on floor exercise. Stefanie Merkle took the event title with a 9.925 while Harrison tied for second with a 9.850.

The Buckeyes travel to Minnesota for a 6 p.m. meet Jan. 31.
