ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The No. 10 Ohio State University men’s volleyball team (21-7, 11-4 MIVA) fell victim to 18 team blocks for the second-ranked Lewis Flyers (23-2, 14-1 MIVA) in suffering a defeat on the road (25-16, 25-20, 25-21). The win clinched Lewis at least a share of the 2015 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association regular season championship.

The Buckeyes are now locked into the No. 3 seed for the MIVA Tournament while the Flyers will be the top seed. Ohio State has one last regular season match Saturday night at Loyola before postseason play begins with the MIVA Quarterfinals on April 24. The Buckeyes will host a to-be-determined opponent that evening at 7 p.m. ET inside St. John Arena.

Lewis grabbed the first two points of the opening set and gradually pulled away in a 25-16 final tally. Ohio State ran into five blocks and stumbled to a .160 hitting efficiency.

Set number two was much the same as the Flyers threw up six more blocks and never trailed. Five OSU service errors compounded the deficit and the Buckeyes fell 25-20.

The Lewis block total grew to seven stuffs in the third frame. Ohio State was better able to combat the blocking brigade, however, and pulled even as late as 20-20. Miles Johnson and Nicolas Szerszen each drove home four kills in the set to give OSU a chance to extend the match late. The Flyers took five of the final six points though, sealing the deal 25-21.
