No. 2 Buckeyes Best Michigan State in 7-0 Sweep


COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 2 Ohio State men’s tennis team improved to 22-2 and stayed undefeated in Big Ten play at 7-0. The Buckeyes have now beat the Spartans in 28 straight matches with today marking their 11th straight sweep.

The Buckeyes are undefeated at home for the 2022 the regular season.

In doubles, The Buckeyes got off to a hot start and put together three dominant performances. The number one ranked doubles team in the country, Matej Vocel and Robert Cash, finished first with a huge 6-2 win on court one. Cannon Kingsley and JJ Tracy followed soon after with a quick 6-3 win on court three. Though unfinished, Andrew Lutschaunig and Justin Boulais led 5-2 in their match and were ahead 30-15 when the point was clinched.

The Buckeyes kept their momentum going into singles. Justin Boulais finished first with a near perfect 6-0, 6-1 win. Vocel and Tracy had simultaneous finishes in near perfect wins to make the Buckeye lead 4-0. The remaining singles matches were played to completion where Jake Van Emburgh dominated in a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Kingsley also took his match in straight sets winning 6-2, 6-3. Trotter capped off the perfect day for the Buckeyes with his 6-4, 6-1 straight sets victory cementing the Ohio State win at 7-0.

The Buckeyes are back on the road for the final two matches of the regular season and face Wisconsin at 4 p.m. ET this Friday and Nebraska at 1 p.m. ET this Sunday.
