COLUMBUS, Ohio – After dropping the opening set, the No. 19 Ohio State women’s volleyball team rallied to take the next three and defeat Indiana, 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-12, 25-17), Friday night in St. John Arena. The Buckeyes improved to 14-5 overall and 5-2 in the Big Ten with the win.

Senior Emily Danks led all student-athletes with 18 kills, adding seven digs and three block assists. Classmate Mari Hole finished with 15 kills and 15 digs for her ninth double-double of the season. Junior Kaitlyn Leary totaled 10 kills, while senior Mariah Booth had nine kills on 12 attempts for a .750 attack percentage. Booth also had five blocks (1s, 4a) for the Buckeyes.

Sophomore Taylor Sherwin had a match-high 50 assists and junior libero Davionna DiSalvatore finished with 12 digs for her 16th double-digit dig match of the year.

A trio of Hoosiers (8-11, 0-7) had double-digit kills on the night. Jordan Haverly and Kelci Marschall each had 11, while Samantha Thrower finished with 10. Libero Caitlin Hansen had a match-high 16 digs and setter Katie Gallagher totaled 42 assists.

A pair of three-point runs led to an 8-6 advantage for Indiana to open the first set. Kills by Hole and Leary tied the set at 12 apiece before a pair of Buckeyes errors led to a 14-12 Hoosier lead. An Indiana serving error triggered a 5-1 Ohio State run to give the home team a 19-17 lead, but a Buckeye attack error locked the set at 23-23. Back-to-back Hoosier blocks gave the squad a 25-23 win in set one.

Indiana kicked off the second set on an 8-4 run and pulled ahead more at 12-7. A kill from Booth sent the squad on a 5-0 rally to cut the Indiana lead to one at 14-13. The Buckeyes chipped away at the Hoosier lead and eventually took the advantage at 17-16 on a kill by Hole. A kill by Booth and a service ace by Sherwin set the score 21-19 and a kill by Andrea Kacsits gave Ohio State the set, 25-22.

Kills by Booth and Danks led to a 4-2 lead to start the third set and a kill by Kacsits set the score 7-3 in favor of the Buckeyes. A block by Sherwin/Booth sent the team on a 6-1 run for a 17-7 lead, while a kill by Leary led to a 20-9 advantage. Back-to-back kills from Hole gave Ohio State set point at 24-12 and a Booth/Hole block sealed the set win, 25-12.

Tied at 5-5 in the fourth, a kill by Leary led the Buckeyes on a 4-0 run for a 9-5 lead. Kills by Hole and Leary and a Booth/Danks block made the score 14-8 and a kill by Kacsits gave Ohio State an eight-point lead at 17-9. The Hoosiers battled back to cut the score to three at 18-15, but the Buckeyes finished the match on an 8-2 run and took the set, 25-17.
