UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 18 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team fell at Penn State, 195.575-194.675, Saturday evening in University Park, Pa.

The Buckeyes started the meet on bars, topping the Nittany Lions 48.800-48.775. Alex DeLuca tied for the event title with a season-best 9.925 while Melanie Shaffer tied for third with a 9.800.

Ohio State then moved to vault in the second rotation but Penn State won the event, 49.000-48.900. Sarah Miller took the event title with a 9.925 while Maggie Dunn, performing for the first time on the event, tallied a 9.775.

Miller paced the Buckeyes in floor exercise the third rotation with meet-best 9.875 but the Buckeyes dropped the event, 48.900-48.725. Shaffer added a 9.775 to tie for fourth.

In the final rotation, Ohio State moved to beam and posted a 48.250. Miller tallied a team-high 9.825 to finish second on the event.

Shaffer recorded a team-high 39.025 to finish second in the all-around.

The Buckeyes host nationally-ranked Michigan at 7 p.m. Friday in St. John Arena.
