COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 17 Ohio State women’s soccer team fell to No. 10 Nebraska, 3-0, Friday night at Bert L. & Iris S. Wolstein Field at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 6-4-1, 0-2-1 in Big Ten play, while the Huskers improve to 7-4-0, 2-1-0 in conference play.
JOHNSON PUTS HUSKERS UP
After the Buckeyes earned quality possession early but were unable to find the back of the net, Jaycie Johnson gave the Cornhuskers the lead in the 29th minute. Courtney Claassen found Johnson just outside the top of the box, where Johnson took a dribble and fired a right-footed shot past Ohio State goalkeeper Megan Geldernick just inside the left post for a 1-0 lead.
NEBRASKA LEAD DOUBLES ON ANOTHER JOHNSON TALLY
In the 37th minute, Sydney Miramontez played a corner toward the near post where Johnson was able to sneak past a Buckeye defender and headed home her second goal of the night to put Nebraska up 2-0.
BUCKEYES ALMOST CUT LEAD IN HALF
Five minutes later, Nikki Walts played a cross in from the right wing that was flicked on by Sarah Roberts toward the far post where Bridget Skinner was able to get a foot on it but Nebraska goalkeeper Aubrei Corder was able to jump on the loose ball to preserve the 2-0 lead heading in to the half.
BUCKEYES APPLY EARLY-SECOND HALF PRESSURE
After Roberts had a shot from distance blocked in the 48th minute and Sammy Edwards was unable to find the back of the net on a shot inside the box off a free kick in the 53rd minute, Lindsay Agnew made a great run from midfield past multiple Husker defenders in the 54th minute but her right-footed shot from 12 yards was right into the arms of Corder.
Three minutes later, Nichelle Prince broke free down the right wing and played a cross toward the six-yard box but Emma Firenze’s shot sailed over the crossbar.
JOHNSON PUSHES LEAD TO 3-0
In the 60th minute, Caroline Flynn played a cross from the right wing that trickled through the center of the box, where Johnson was waiting to place a shot from 12 yards into the upper right corner to make it a three-goal contest.
WALTS WITH ANOTHER OHIO STATE CHANCE
With just under 20 minutes remaining in the match, Nebraska tried to clear a Nya Cason cross from the right wing but it fell right to the foot of Walts. The Buckeye junior drilled a shot from the top of the box but it sailed over the crossbar as Nebraska came away with the win.

BUCKEYE BITS
– The match was the first for the Buckeyes since losing starting goalkeeper Jillian McVicker to an injury last Sunday at Minnesota.
