No. 17/18 Ohio State Falls to No. 5/5 Oklahoma

FULLERTON, Calif. – No. 17/18 Ohio State’s 11-game California excursion ended with a 5-0 setback to No. 5/5 Oklahoma Sunday morning to close out the Easton Invitational. The Buckeyes fall to 19-4 while the Sooners improve to 23-2.

Fifth-ranked Oklahoma, the two-time defending national champions, and Paige Parker stymied the Buckeyes’ offense in the Sooners’ 5-0 win.

After two scoreless innings, Oklahoma jumped on top 1-0 in the top of the third on a sacrifice fly after a walk and double put a pair of runners in scoring position.

The Sooners stacked the bags in the fifth on a single and two walks before a two-run single added two runs. They added two more in the seventh on an RBI double and error.

Taylor White had both hits for Ohio State. Her first hit came in the home frame of the fourth with a single up the middle. She followed up in the sixth on a single to right field.

In the circle, Morgan Ray (11-3) went the distance for the eighth time this season as she allowed five runs on five hits. Ray struck out three and retired six in a row at one point.
