The 16th-ranked Ohio State (5-4 overall, 3-0 American Lacrosse Conference) women’s lacrosse team remained undefeated in American Lacrosse Conference play with a 15-4 road victory at Davidson (4-7, 0-4) Sunday afternoon at Belk Turf Field. OSU’s Kelly Kremer (Fr., Kennett Square, Pa.) scored a game-high five points with four goals and an assist for the Buckeyes with Andrea Fischer (Jr., Cleveland Heights, Ohio) adding three points with two goals and an assist. For Davidson, Whitney Diefendorf had two goals and Lindsay Frank a goal and an assist for the Wildcats.

Ohio State’s Kremer opened the scoring with a goal at 2:45 into the game. Davidson’s Diefendorf tied the game at one at 5:11 on a Millie McKeachie assist. Kremer scored again at 6:50 on a free position shot but Diefendorf responded at 7:41 on an assist from Frank to tie the game at two. The Buckeyes took a 3-2 lead with a goal at 11:04 by Melissa Sands (Sr., Fallston, Md.), assisted by Kelyn Laws (So., Ellicott City, Md.). Goals by Jessica Patane (Fr., Farmingdale, N.Y.) on an assist from Kremer at 16:02 and Kremer’s third goal at 20:13, assisted by Lindsay Weiner (So., Eldersburg, Md.) gave Ohio State a 5-2 lead. Davidson stopped Ohio State’s three goal run at 25:32 with a score by Brandon Jacob, assisted by Sarah Walter. The Buckeyes scored the next four goals to end the half leading, 9-3. Brandie Williams (Sr., Hatboro, Pa.) started the scoring run with a goal at 26:37. Fischer made it 7-3 at 27:16 on an assist from Melissa Sands (Sr., Fallston, Md.). Regina Oliver (Sr., Pottstown, Pa.), assisted by Kristen Hannon (Fr., Sykesville, Md.) and Kelyn Laws (So., Ellicott City, Md.) added an unassisted goal at 27:41 and 29:35, respectively to close out the half.

Davidson opened the second half with Frank scoring at 30:48 to make the score, 9-4. The Buckeyes closed out the game with six unanswered goals to win the game, 15-4. Ashley Evans (Sr., Ellicott City, Md.) at 33:33 gave OSU a 10-4 lead. Kremer’s four goal of the game, assisted by Williams came at 35:05. Kristen Hannon (Fr., Sykesville, Md.) scored unassisted at 35:13 to make the lead, 12-4. Pantane’s second goal of the game came at 36:32 on an assist from Molly Gilbert (Fr., Baltimore, Md.). Danielle Gibson (So., Springfield, Pa.) scored at 41:33, unassisted and Fischer’s second goal of the day at 56:54 completed the scoring for the Buckeyes.

In goal, Ohio State’s Kim Hastings (Jr., Sewickley, Pa.) picked up the win (5-4), while Joy DeMarco (So., Hudson, Ohio) played the final 18:17 of the game for the Buckeyes, making two saves. Davidson’s Laura Johnson took the loss (1-5), collecting two saves in the game.

Ohio State plays at home next Sunday in the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium against Cal-Berkeley (6-5) at 1 p.m. in a non-conference contest.
