COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s swimming team recorded seven NCAA qualifying times at the Last Chance Meet, held Sunday at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.

The Buckeyes’ efforts were led by senior Michelle Williams and freshmen Taylor Vargo. Williams swam a 48.39 in the 100 freestyle, an NCAA “B” qualifying time and a school record, breaking the previous mark of 48.48 by Megan Detro in 2011.

Vargo won the 200 breaststroke with a “B” qualifying time of 2:13.58 while Vargo clocked a NCAA-qualifying time of 2:13.58. In the prelims, she swam a 2:10.35, which broke her own school record of 2:11.62 set last week at the Big Ten Championships.

Other Buckeyes to achieve NCAA-qualifying times were Annie Jongekrijg (50 free, 22.99) and Aliena Schmidtke (100 butterfly, 53.01).

The Buckeyes are back in action March 20-22 at the NCAA Championships in Minneapolis.
