COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 13 Ohio State women’s rowing team hosts Indiana in the final home regatta at noon, Saturday. The Buckeyes fell to Michigan last weekend in Ypsilanti, Mich.

Last Time Out: At Michigan

Ohio State was downed by No. 7 Michigan Saturday, April 15. The regatta was held at Ford Lake in Ypsilanti, Mich.The Buckeyes began the day with a close finish in the first varsity eight race, but in the last second the Wolverines pulled ahead for the win with a time of 6:51.20 over the Buckeyes’ 6:51.87. Ohio State earned their first win of the day in the second varsity four with a time of 8:10.0 as they opened up their lead in the last 500 meters to defeat the Wolverines by eight seconds. Ohio State finished the day with a victory in the second novice eight with a time of 7:38.93.

Scouting the Indiana Hoosiers

The Indiana Hoosiers enter the race after competing April 16 in Oak Ridge, Tenn,. along with nearly 2000 other athletes from 56 other schools from across the South and Midwest. The Hoosiers competed in five events and reached the grand finals (place 1-6) in two and the petite final (place 7-12) in one event. Indiana failed to qualify in the novice and varsity 4’s. The Novice A 8 and Novice B 8 both reached the grand final with the Varsity 8 making the petites.

The Ohio State women’s varsity crew was ranked 13th in the April 19 Collegiate Coaches Poll. The Buckeyes began the season at No. 13. They have been ranked as high as No. 11 this season.
