No. 13 Men Claim First at Shamrock Invitational

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The No. 13 men and No. 15 women’s Ohio State swimming & diving team completed the Shamrock Invitational strong on Saturday, held at the Rolfs Aquatic Center in Notre Dame, Ind. The Buckeyes won 11 events overall. After a career day to start the meet off, Ohio State notched 10 additional career-best times and 17 season bests.

The men’s team finished first with a total of 1,397 points, ahead of No. 23 Notre Dame (826.5), Iowa (780.5) and Missouri State (407). The women’s team placed third with 873.5 points, behind No. 19 Notre Dame (1191.5) and Akron (960.5) and ahead of Iowa (434.5).

FINAL SESSION – WOMEN’S TEAM
• Kendyl Ferrara was the top Buckeye finisher in the 1650 Free, setting a career-best time of 16:59.53.
• Kristen Romano claimed second in the 200 Back, registering a season-best of 1:57.17.
• Leading the way in the 100 Free, Taylor Petrak placed sixth with a time of 50.28.
• Hanna Gresser earned third in the 200 Breast, finishing with a time of 2:17.64.
• Kathrin Demler placed fourth in the 200 Fly, clocking in at 2:00.10.
• To finish out the weekend, Petrak, Maria Coy, Freya Rayner and Romano took fourth in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 3:21.65.

FINAL SESSION – MEN’S TEAM
• Carson Burt finished second in the 1650 Free, posting a career-best time of 15:23.99.
• The Buckeyes took another sweep on the weekend in the 200 Back, with RJ Kondalski winning with a career-best time of 1:45.62. Brad Shannon finished second with season-best of 1:46.56 and Colin McDermott followed with a career-best time of 1:47.08.
• Ruslan Gaziev picked up a win in the 100 Free, touching the wall at 43.59. Andrew Loy took third, clocking in at 44.53.
• Jason Mathews was victorious in the 200 Breast, notching a time of 2:00.08. Alex Jahan followed in second with a season-best time of 2:00.45.
• Alex Dillmann led the way in the 200 Fly, finishing second with a career-best time of 1:46.28. Noah Lense was right behind in third at 1:47.92.
• Loy, Matthew Abeysinghe, Paul DeLakis and Gaziev ended the meet with a win in the 400 Free Relay, finishing with a time of 2:56.17. Teo Chavez, Mossimo Chavez, Kalvin Koethke and Josef Pohlmann claimed third with a time of 2:59.21.

DIVING
• Christo Law finished with a win on the 3-Meter board, posting a score of 369.45. Joseph Canova finished right behind in second with a score of 358.30.
• Genevieve Angerame claimed second on the 1-Meter board, tallying a score of 282.40. Ali House was seventh with a score of 259.25.
