• A win over Southern would give the Buckeyes their best season start under Jim Foster at 9-0. OSU also started 8-0 in 2009-10 before losing at Duke in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
• The program’s best start (since the start of NCAA play in 1982-83) is 10-0 set during the 2000-01 season. OSU started 14-0 back in 1972.
• Ohio State has faced Southern once before, a 79-38 win back on Nov. 19, 2007 in Columbus.
• Ohio State has won 19 of its last 20 games dating to last season, losing only to No. 1 seed Tennessee in the NCAA Dayton Regional.
• Head coach Jim Foster (748 career wins) is two wins away from No. 750. He would become just the ninth Division I women’s coach to reach 750 career victories.
• Coach Foster is the eighth winningest active coach in Division I.
• Junior Tayler Hill and senior Samantha Prahalis both rank in the top 5 in the Big Ten in scoring at 21.3 and 18.5 ppg, respectively (as of Dec. 12). Hill is tops in the Big Ten and ranks 11th nationally.
• Prahalis leads the Big Ten and ranks fourth nationally in assists with 7.0 per game.
• As a team, Ohio State leads the Big Ten and ranks ninth in the NCAA in FG percentage at .470.
• Ohio State is 2-0 against ranked teams this season and 10-3 since the start of last season when the Buckeyes went 8-3 against ranked teams and 13-4 against 2011 NCAA Tournament teams.
• Ohio State has made more free throws (138) than opponents have attempted this season (116). The Buckeyes are 7-0 this year and 95-9 since the start of the 2007-08 season when they make more than their opponents at the line.
