COLUMBUS, Ohio — Chrissy Kilroe (Jr., Calgary, Alberta) scored with exactly one minute remaining to give the Ohio State Buckeyes a 3-2 win over Michigan State, Friday at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Mich. The No. 11 Buckeyes improved to 10-5 overall and 3-5 in the Big Ten, while the 17th-ranked Spartans dropped to 9-9 overall and 2-7 in the Big Ten.
The game was scoreless until the 26:32 mark of the second half when Jill Garcia put the Spartans up, 1-0. Ohio State’s Jayne Landis (Sr., Telford, Pa.) scored four minutes later to tie the game. Kimberley Reedy (So., Scarborough, Ont.) and Katie Hobson (Jr., Norristown, Pa.) assisted on the Buckeyes’ goal.
Deanna Menichini(Sr., Newton Square, Pa.) scored a breakaway goal with 13:10 remaining to put Ohio State up, 2-1. Michigan State then tied the game with 4:53 remaining. Kilroe scored with a minute remaining, off an assist from Marije van Nouhuys (So., New Lyceum, Netherlands), to lift the Buckeyes to the win.
Freshman Gillian Batey (Fr., Victoria, B.C.) recorded nine saves in goal for the Buckeyes.
On Sunday, the Buckeyes travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. to face the Michigan Wolverines at noon.
