COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 10 Ohio State women’s ice hockey team (12-12-2; 9-12-1 WCHA) skated to a 2-2 tie against St. Cloud State (7-15-3; 5-12-3 WCHA) at National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. Senior forward Jeni Creary scored the gametying goal, while senior goalie Melissa Glaser recorded 36 saves in the Buckeyes’ second tie of the season.

Ohio State scored the first goal of the game and St. Cloud State followed three minutes later to tie the game at 1-all. Jana Harrigan (Jr., Burlington, Ontario) and Jeni Creary (Sr., Shell Lake, Saskatchewan) set up sophomore defenseman Tessa Bonhomme (Sudbury, Ontario) for a backdoor power-play goal, marking her seventh goal of the season at 14:05. SCSU tied the game on a power-play goal by Laura Fast at 17:57. At the end of the stanza, SCSU posted 10 to OSU’s six.

In the second period, St. Cloud State claimed a 2-1 lead when Kristy Oonincx scored at 10:05. Ohio State had four power-play opportunities but could not get the puck SCSU’s goalie Lauri St. Jacques. The Huskies outshot the Buckeyes 14 to seven in the second stanza.

The Buckeyes tied the game at 7:06 in the third period and held strong the remainder of the stanza forcing the game into overtime. OSU assistant captain and leading goal scorer Creary recorded her first goal of the game and 18th of the season on a turnover in front the net. SCSU outshot OSU 13-10 in the third period.

In overtime, Ohio State had several scoring opportunities but could not get the puck in the net. OSU senior goalie Melissa Glaser came up big for the Buckeyes as she stopped SCSU’s Oonincx on a breakaway. Buckeyes called a timeout with 32 seconds remaining.

Ohio State senior goalie Melissa Glaser (Rockford, Ill.) posted 36 saves in the full 65 minutes of action. St. Cloud State’s goalie Lauri St. Jacques recorded 22 saves in 64:38 of action.

St. Cloud State outshot the Buckeyes 38 to 24. Ohio State held St. Cloud State to 4-on-5 the power play, while the Buckeyes were 1-for-7

Up next, Ohio State travels to Bemidji, Minn., to take on the Bemidji State Beavers at 3:05 p.m. Feb. 4-5 at John S. Glass Fieldhouse.

Notes With her one assist, Jana Harrigan extended her point streak to 10 games this season. During her stretch Harrigan has posted four goals and 12 assists for 16 points. Harrigan’s assist moves her to second in the OSU record books with 99 career points, tied with former Buckeye Emma Laaksonen (2001-04).

Jeni Creary continues to lead the Buckeyes with 18 goals this season as she improves her career mark to 75 goals.
