COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 10th-ranked Ohio State men’s swimming and diving team earned its second dual-meet victory of the season Thursday evening at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion, taking down Cleveland State, 137-88.


To open the evening, the Buckeye quartet of Steven Zimmerman, Jack Barone, Ching Lim and Michael DiSalle touched first in the 200 medley relay with a mark of 1:32.01. Ohio State picked up 13 points toward its team total in the event with first- and third-place finishes. 

Rookie Brayden Seal picked up his second collegiate win, with a first-place touch in the 1000 freestyle in a time of 9:20.61. Seal’s teammates Joey Long and Jack Hendricks followed in second and third, completing the Buckeye sweep. 

The freshmen class continued its strong showing as Ching Lim picked up a win in the 200 freestyle (1:40.09). DiSalle, a senior this season, followed it up with a first-place showing in the 50 freestyle (20.85). However, it was then back to Lim, who earned his second victory of the meet in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:40.09. 

Senior standout Steven Zimmerman took Ohio State into the first break in winning fashion with a win in the 200 individual medley (1:52.23). Buckeye David Morgan took second, while Andrew Lindstrom placed third. 

Add another for Lim. The rookie also took home the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.75. The win was his second of the meet. Ohio State swept the Vikings in the event, with Peter Lyon and Morgan following in second and third, respectively. 

Sophomore Vladislav Komarov repped the Buckeyes with a first-place showing in the 100 freestyle (45.80 ), while Zimmerman picked up his second individual victory claiming the 100 backstroke (49.16). 

In the 500 freestyle competition, Long recorded a time of 4:40.93 for first, adding another nine points toward the team’s score. Senior Chris Cowley posted the fastest time in the 100 breaststroke with a 56.79. 

Buckeye swimming concluded the dual with the top time in the 200 freestyle relay behind swims from DiSalle, Appleby, Thomas Trace and Nick Brodie (1:23.91).

In diving action, Stephen Ettienne had a strong showing with top scores in both the one- and three-meter competitions. Ettienne posted a final score of 375.23 on the one-meter apparatus and a 261.45 on the three-meter. 

Ohio State will return to McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion tomorrow to take on the Kenyon Lords. The meet is scheduled to being at 6 p.m.
