COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 10 Ohio State women’s tennis team improved to 5-2 this season with a 7-0 shutout of Cleveland State Wednesday morning in the Varsity Tennis Center.
Ohio State dropped just one set in a sweep of the singles matches.
Ohio State won 6-1, 6-1, on courts one and two. Freshman Isabelle Boulais was first off court, beating Klara Mrcela on court two, and sophomore Shiori Fukuda defeated Isabella Spindler on court one. On court three, freshman Kolie Allen posted a 6-2, 6-0 win over Lara Prosenjak to clinch the Ohio State victory.
No. 99-ranked sophomore Luna Dormet topped Gaby Schoenberg, 6-3, 6-1, on court five and on court six sophomore Emma Decoste was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Kateryna Avram. Junior Danielle Wolf closed out the victory, coming from a set down to win in a super tiebreaker, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (7).
Allen leads the Buckeyes with a 7-0 record in dual matches this spring, while Boulais and Dormet are both 5-1.
With wins on courts one and two, the Buckeyes clinched the doubles point. The tandem of Kolie Allen and Luna Dormet dropped just one game on court one over Klara Mrcela and Kateryna Avram, followed by a 6-2 victory from Isabelle Boulais and Danielle Wolf over Lara Prosenjak and Gaby Schoenberg on court two. The tandem of Shiori Fukuda and Andrea Ballinger was leading 5-3 on court three when play was called.
