COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 10 Ohio State men’s basketball team topped Morgan State, 90-57, Friday night at Value City Arena. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 7-0 on the year while the Bears drop to 3-6.
The Buckeyes travel to No. 6 North Carolina for a 9:30 p.m. ET tip Wednesday in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge in Chapel Hill.
Andre Wesson led Ohio State with 19 points and seven rebounds while Kaleb Wesson totaled 13 points and eight boards. Stanley Davis Jr. paced Morgan State with 13 points.
Morgan State scored the first four points of the contest and held a 6-5 lead a little over two minutes into the game but Ohio State responded with a 14-2 run over 6:25 to take a 19-8 advantage with 11:31 remaining after three free throws from Andre Wesson. The Buckeyes then outscored the Bears 26-10 the remainder of the half, holding a 14-0 lead in points off turnovers, to take a 45-18 lead into the break.
Andre Wesson led all scorers with 11 points over the first 20 minutes while Kaleb Wesson totaled nine points and eight boards. Malik Miller paced the Bears with six points as the Buckeyes limited Morgan State to 7-for-27 (25.9 percent) from the field in the opening half.
Ohio State held Morgan State at a distance after the break, with the Bears getting no closer than 24 at 55-31 with 15:50 left to play. Eleven different Buckeyes scored in the final 20 minutes as Ohio State came away with the 33-point win.
For the game, the Buckeyes held a 43-31 advantage on the boards, a 22-1 lead in points off turnovers and a 46-18 edge in bench points.
