COLUMBUS, Ohio – When the National Lacrosse League kicks off its 2022-23 season on Friday night, 11 #ProBucks will suit up for six teams across the league.
Making their NLL debuts this year are Justin Inacio (Calgary Roughnecks) and Jackson Reid (Albany Firewolves). Incacio was taken in the first round, going with the 10th pick in the opening round. Reid was the 28th overall selection in the second round by the Halifax Thunderbirds before ultimately landing in Albany.
Overall, the Thunderbirds have the most Buckeyes rostered with five, including Eric Fannel, Eric Pearson, Austin Shanks , Ryan Terefenko and Jake Withers. Withers finished the 2021-22 season second in the league in loose balls (218). Shanks paced the team with 31 goals last year and finished second with 65 points.
In addition to Inacio, the Calgary Roughnecks are home to Jesse King. King led the team with 95 points in the regular season last year. He tallied a team-high 66 assists and was second with 29 goals on the year.
The Rochester Knighthawks, Georgia Swarm and San Diego Seals rosters each feature a Buckeye. Turner Evans readies for his sixth season in the league and third with the Knighthawks. Tre Leclaire (Seals) and Jeff Henrick (Swarm) enter their second seasons in the league.
This fall, current Buckeyes Jason Knox and Jack Myers were drafted in the 2022 NLL Entry Draft. Knox was selected fifth overall by the Panthers City Lacrosse Club. The Dallas Wings selected Myers with the 66th overall pick. The duo will being their NLL careers next fall.
